  • Carefully use the screwdriver again to separate the battery cover from the fob

  • Remove the old 1620 batteries and replace them with two new 1620 batteries

  • Snap the cover back in place

  • Finally, place the two halves of the key fob back together

How to Change Audi Key Battery of Newer Models

The newer models have different key types and batteries. To change them, you have to follow the steps given below -

  • Get a new CR2032 battery

  • Open the Audi metal key with the key release button

  • Locate the small notch inside the key compartment with the metal key flipped open

  • Then carefully use a flat screwdriver to open the battery cover in the small notch

  • After the cover is opened, examine the cover from the back where the metal keyring is located

  • After the cover is out, remove the old CR2032 battery and replace it with a new one. 

  • Make sure to ensure that the positive side is facing up

  • Gently place the cover back onto the key fob

  • Be mindful that the plastic notches are lined up in the proper position

To change the batteries of the smart keyless remote batteries of Audi cars, you have to follow the steps given below -

  • Find a new CR2032 battery

  • Remove the metal key blade from the shell

  • You will find a small metal notch where the key blade is located

  • Use a flathead screwdriver and carefully come in at an angle with the screwdriver pointing towards the middle of the keyfob

  • Rotate the screwdriver to pop open the key fob shell

  • Remove the old CR2032 battery and replace it with a new one

  • Lastly, put the cover back in place
